St Kilda youngster Brandon White has pressed his name for an AFL debut, following another standout performance at VFL level in Sandringham’s nine-point loss to Richmond.

White, 19, gathered 26 disposals, laid six tackles and kicked a goal playing through the midfield and impressed with his speed and composure for such a young player.

White has caught the eye of St Kilda Coach Alan Richardson of late, after being named as an emergency for Saturday’s AFL clash with Richmond at the MCG.

“Brandon White has been terrific with his run and efforts across the ground this year, he’s played 12 VFL games and really applies himself to the contest,” Sandringham Coach Paul Hudson told saints.com.au.

“Brandon is still a young player but his development has been pleasing this season, particularly in the back half of the year.”

Hudson also mentioned midfield pair Josh Saunders (30 disposals, 1 goal) and Tom Curren (23 disposals, 2 goals) as others to step up in what was a tough day at the office against the Tigers.

“Josh Saunders has improved his kick-to-handball ratio which is really encouraging, because we know his ball winning ability is very good,” Hudson said.

“Tom Curren is another who just hunts the footy and gets it forward for us. He was able to kick a couple goals as well, so his efforts were pleasing.”
