St Kilda Assistant Coach Adam Kingsley admits the Saints are pleased with their form of late and looking forward to the challenge presented by premiership aspirants Western Bulldogs on Saturday night.

The Saints have won six of their last eight games, with all six wins coming under the roof at Etihad Stadium, including their two most recent victories against Melbourne and Essendon.

Luke Beveridge’s third placed Bulldogs sit a game inside the top-four boast a strong recent record against the Saints, winning four of the last five encounters, including the most recent clash in Nick Riewoldt’s 300th back in Round 2.

“We’ve won six out of our last eight, so we’re comfortable that we’re improving and heading in the right direction,” Kingsley told reporters at a press conference at Moorabbin on Friday.

“We’ve been really pleased with our form over the last month, but again we’ll be challenged by a good team. We need to be able to stand up against the best in the comp to be able to be happy about where we’re heading.

“The guys are looking forward to the challenge. We haven’t played our best footy against them the last couple of times. The Bulldogs are certainly right up there, so we’re looking forward to that challenge just to see exactly where we sit.”

While the Saints are conscious of their chances of featuring in September, Kingsley says they can only focus on one week at a time if that possibility is going to materialise.

“We’re fully aware of the possibilities, but we know that we can control our own destiny if you like and we need to go out and deliver each week to be able to make that a reality,” Kingsley said.

“So we’re firmly focused on our challenges, the way we want to play, delivering Saints footy each and every week. So far we’ve been reasonably happy, but bigger and better challenges lie ahead.”
