Angus Hastie will make his AFL debut on Saturday afternoon as St Kilda and Essendon lock horns at Marvel Stadium this Easter weekend.

The former Geelong Falcon, who joined the Saints via pick No. 33 at last year’s National Draft, was told the news earlier today by development coach Jake Batchelor and Head of Development and Learning Damian Carroll on the back of a strong VFL outing on Friday.

Hastie has predominantly plied his trade as a defender during his time at RSEA Park, however pieced together a notable performance along the wing in his maiden VFL outing to earn a call-up for Round 3.

His impressive Coates League campaign in 2023 saw him ranked first amongst all general defenders for intercept possessions, with his agility, versatility and willingness to take the game on earning plenty of commendation in the lead-up to his selection.

18-year-old Hastie will be the fifth St Kilda debutant this year, following on from fellow first-years Darcy Wilson and Lance Collard, plus Saints first-gamers Liam Henry and Riley Bonner.
